I just returned from a wonderful “girls weekend”. We stayed at a family lake home on Cass Lake in northern Minnesota. The whole scene was beautiful and I loved every minute.
One of the more interesting pieces of decor in the lake home was a painted set of old oars that family had leaning against the dining room wall. I immediately fell in love and had to capture the idea.
One of the daughters of the family is a creative gal, too. She and her boyfriend (who restores WWII airplanes for a living… huh?! I guess there are a lot of ways to make a living) purchased a small collection of oars from antique stores and flea markets. They restored them and painted these awesome geometric designs on the bottom.
The display was simple and graphic and referenced “the lake” in a subtle way. What a great way to decorate a lake home!
